Richard Scott exchanged formative experiments with synthesizers in the post–punk early eighties for a move to London, the saxophone and the free music scene, inspired by encounters with John Stevens, Evan Parker, Derek Bailey and AMM. Today Richard lives in Berlin and teaches at Lancaster University. He is an Artistic Resident at STEIM, Amsterdam working on infra-red and movement based performance technologies. In the past year he has had compositions performed at MANTIS Electroacoustic Music Festival and the International Computer Music Conference and has performed with Grutronic, Evan Parker, The Lightning Ensemble, Olaf Rupp, Adam Linson and Gustavo Aguilar. Richard improvises and composes with various technologies including the WiGi, a system of gesture-controlled electronics based around the Buchla Lightning.
